A good story this one… the owner of this GSX-R750 knew it was enough for what he needed but had got to the point where on track days he was getting left behind by the new breed of bikes – which to be fair have improved massively over the last decade. So he’d decided he needed a little more engine…
We explained what we could do for him and showed him some Dyno graphs of previous GSX-R750s we’ve done; “that’s where I want to be…” he said. Now a solid example of this model would come in the door making 118-120bhp at the back wheel, standard – our approach in this instance was for a mild and usable tune that maintain reliability. So we sorted the squish and compression out, ported the head and used a nice cam profile and timing that we’ve developed that we know works and doesn’t rob anything out of the bottom end. It just lets it rev on at the top.
We didn’t go mad, just a gentle fettle. Once it was back together and strapped on our Dyno it made 142bhp and pulled like a train. We’ve done 7 or 8 of these GSX-Rs now and they’ve all responded beautifully.
