A lovely couple own this ZZR… as we’ve said before engines change with miles. When we ECU remap a brand new bike – as this one was, with 600 miles on the clock – then we have to dial in more fuel because it’s tight, and working harder against itself than it will be once it’s properly run in.

As the rings bed in and the compression gets better we can fine tune the fuelling to perfectly suit the engine, and the power will come up. As this one certainly did, with 4,500 miles up just over 200bhp!

Anybody with a new bike thinking of an ECU remap needs to know this – there’s a lot we can sort out early on but modern engine materials need time to settle down. So for the ultimate remap result miles do matter…
