BMW K1300S Power Commander Dual map install and Dyno setup

By 15th February 2013BMW, ECU Remap, Power Commander

The customer who owns this Beemer reckons it’s a fairly economical bike to run because of its healthy power; the Power Commander fitted had definitely given him a bit more ‘go’ too, but he did feel that he’d lost some of the fuel economy.

So we built him an economy map – all he has to do is flip the switch and when he’s cruising only (not in the top end, or when he grabs a handful of throttle) around 70mph-120mph we’ve leaned the fuelling out. We’ve gone to an air-fuel mixture of 13.6:1 in the cruise area, from 13.2:1, so quite a bit leaner; on normal roads he won’t see much benefit, but at steady motorway speeds (and he goes abroad a lot) we’d hope for around 25% more fuel economy, and thus tank range.

An economy map can now be selected when in cruise mode, giving this K1300S much better range on a long trip.
