Like many SMT owners we see this particular customer brought his bike to us concerned with its bottom-end power delivery and on/off throttle feel, which he didn’t like. In all fairness it hadn’t done a lot of miles and they do get better as mileage racks up.

But no amount of miles will get around the emissions rubbish that interfere with the engine, and the fact that the fuelling and ignition tables are mapped to work with it all as well. So our first job was to get rid and switch off anything that’s there purely to get the motor to pass the Euro III regulations.

Next up was adjustment of the secondary butterflies, then ignition tables (which make a big difference to throttle feel) followed by a straightforward fuelling map to match the Akro’ end-cans. Job done, nicely.

A nice bike made nicer with an ECU remap.
