Over the years we’ve remapped a fair few KTMs with performance airbox setups – DNA and Rottweiler. We don’t see so many now and the bikes we do get to sort out are Dukes or SMs, not SMTs (in other words, the hooligan boys versus the touring crowd…).

But this was the request so we set to and fitted the Rottweiler unit; and it fitted really nicely. We then remapped the engine to suit the airbox and guess what – quite reasonable gains were found over and above the usual. We  saw a good 5bhp boost – mainly up top – but it was noticeable. Now most SMT owners are looking for improved throttle control, power delivery and a mid-range leg-up but this bike got some extra peak welly…
