We got an email – which we thought was a wind-up – asking if we could work on XJR1300 and then post it to Dubai… Gill emailed the chap back for a few more details and fair enough it was for real.
He planned to source a secondhand bike in the UK (he didn’t want a new one) and wanted us to fit a full exhaust system on it, add a Power Commander, then map it. He did a deal and the bike was then collected by a courier and delivered to us for the work.
We fitted everything, set it all up sweetly then drained all the fluids for the shipping company, who came and got it. He’s ridden it, loves it and has since enquired whether we can do a few more jobs on it for him! The irony is that it transpires he could have got a new one direct from Japan for the same money as he spent on this one, but minus the cool bits and Dyno set-up…
Sourced, fettled and posted to Dubai – an unusual job for us, but we enjoyed it!
