This GSX-R lives on the track. It came in for an ECU remap, and we wired the hi/lo beam switch on the handlebar to swap between two maps – baffle in, or baffle out – as you simply won’t be able to get on most tracks this year with an open can. With the baffle in the fuelling for an open can becomes hugely rich up top, so you do need to take that out to get the best from the motor in slightly restricted form.

We went right through the rest of the card; switched all the emissions equipment off, amalgamated all the cylinder and ignition maps, took the restriction out of the first 3 gears and removed the top speed limiter (not that matters much for track use..).

Two maps for my wagon – baffle in, or baffle out, controlled by the redundant hi/lo beam switch.
