The owner of this shiny new GSX-R is an old customer of ours and we’ve worked on many of his bikes over the years. He got a great deal in the depths of winter from a Suzuki dealer desperate to move some stock, and he landed it with 200 miles on the clock. He rode their demonstrator, which he said felt nice ‘n’ lively, but when it came to his it just didn’t feel the same – lethargic, was his word.
Now the demo bike had some miles on it and Suzukis – like Kawasakis – do loosen up with time. With 600 miles up we did him an ECU remap anyway; de-restricted it fully and turned off all the emissions rubbish. But really it needs a couple of thousand miles under its wheels before we try and dial some decent numbers into it – so Alan’s going to bring it back for another go when he’s chalked ’em up!
Still a bit tight but de-restricted anyway!
