Nice bike this one, and now the good weather’s coming people are thinking about getting on the road with this kind of cruising tool. It’s owner has just bought it and been in a couple of times for some advice; he’s fitted a Vance & Hines straight through exhaust and air filter and our job finally was to set it all up for him with a Power Commander on the Dyno and get it working sweetly.

And it was desperately short of fuel in the bottom end, so we had to go to town to give it some gas – as much as a 20-25% increase. Once you take the stock cans off and fit open pipes the engine’s not work against as much back pressure, so you have to make some drastic fuelling changes, especially with a big V-twin like this.
