Honda VTR1000 upright handlebar fitment

It’s not all engine tuning and ECU remapping here – sometimes it’s the simple things that customer’s need doing to their bikes that can make all the difference to their riding enjoyment.

This Honda VTR1000 is a case in point; the chap who owns it has been a customer of ours for several years and loves his VTR. The only problem is that he’s arriving at a time of life where he simply doesn’t want to be leaning forward all the time in a pseudo-racing tuck. So taller handlebars were the answer…

We changed the handlebars, and also the brake hoses. The throttle cable and electrical wiring to the switchgear just about cleared with a little judicious re-routing. In truth we’d have liked to trim the fairing, as the bars just graze it when you’re wheeling the bike about on full lock, but he’s taken it away to see how he gets on…

A change of handlebars has transformed this much-loved VTR1000 for its owner...
