A year old Ducati 848, with only 3,000 miles on the clock; because of its age (!) the Ducati dealer was insisting upon a valve clearance check as part of its service, which obviously is expensive. From our perspective the mileage does not dictate that this bike needed its valves checking, so we did an oil/filter change plus nut and bolt inspection including the plugs. Using Ducati parts upholds the warranty, which is an important point to consider if you do take your bike outside of the dealer network.
