10 years ago, we were asked by a journalist at Motorcycle News to re-map the ecu on his standard KTM SMT990, to see if the throttle control and the fuel delivery at low revs, could be improved.

The bike then came back a few months later with Akrapovic silencers fitted, which meant that the fuelling map had to be changed to suit the new exhausts.

A double page spread in the MCN followed, letting readers know what we had done to the bike and it all snowballed from then, we have seen around 800 SMT990, Superduke’s, SM990, Adventure and some of the 690’s from all over the UK and Europe, all suffering from the same issues.

Now a decade on we are still getting calls from owners who have recently bought a KTM and need their bike sorting out!

I must add for some of the later models, we need to use the Rapid Bike Evo system to correct the fuelling!!
