The owner of this Moto Morini Granpasso was at the end of his tether by the time he finally made it to us. He told us we were his last hope; he liked the bike – he’d been touring Europe on it – but hated the awful power delivery. When he brought it in we had to tell him that it wasn’t evening running properly as it was idling on one cylinder, and spluttering on two until it was out of what you’d call the ‘pilot’ area.
So before we could remap his ECU we had to check the valve clearances, as previous experience has taught us that they tend to tighten up on these engines. We then sorted the throttle body balance which was way out – at least the bike ran on two cylinders now, bonus!
Next was an ECU reflash with a Morini ‘road’ map we’d done before, not the ‘touring’ map. We then remapped the new map to suit the engine. Lovely job.
