All the way from Norway Asbjørn rode to Eye Green for his ECU remap and rode home again! He was kind enough to drop us a line afterwards and for general information, opening up the secondary butterflies 100% is not a good idea…
Hi Gill
There is a big difference – it’s a whole new bike to ride. The last bit of road leading to my house there are a lot of speed bumps and winding turns at low gears and low speed. Before the remap I had to do a lot of clutch work but now I don’t have to do any.
I’ve downloaded the Tune ECU program and ordered the cables like Mark suggested (since I live so far away and since a KTM service tech might load a KTM map and deleting Mark’s map. So I’ve been looking through the original map and the map Mark has made.
I do have a couple of questions: There is still some on/off twitchiness in the 3500-4000 rpm range. Haven’t pinpointed it exactly where and when jet since I haven’t done too much slow driving in lower gears. Will it help changing F-L switching for those ranges.
I’ve been reading the forums and there is talk about that opening 2nd throttle to 100% all through the map (effectively disabling it) and that it has a positive effect. In the map Mark has made the 2nd throttle is less open below 6500 rpm all the way up to 60% throttle. Does the 2nd throttle have anything to do with air/fuel mixture? And would opening the 2nd throttle to 100% all through the map work against the adjustments or would it work with?
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Asbjørn
