In the old days (actually, not that long ago) we changed the jetting in carbs to suit engine fuelling after modifications. The legislation was less restrictive too but now when computers run our lives (and bikes) life is a little more complicated when it comes to sorting engines.
Over the last few years the line-up of ECUs we can remap has grown massively and we hope to keep expanding the range of bikes we can modify. Power Commanders still have a place and can be the only option to sort fuelling if you fit a can on models that we can’t remap just yet.
But we prefer the extra opportunities that dealing directly with the ECU gives us in terms of switching off emissions equipment and ignition restrictions, or setting up for open pipes with the catalyser in place. We can also manage the secondary butterflies as well as perfectly tailor fuelling and ignition maps.
We’ve also seen an increasing number of Speed and Street Triples as owners just don’t seem to get what they want from their local Triumph dealers. All of the Hinckley twins respond really well once liberated of their emissions-derived hamstrings and the effect is to give the rider control back of their engine.
We recently remapped a GSX1250FA and the effect was incredible – the engine completely transformed, not to mention the customer that brought his brand new GSX-R600 with 600 miles on the clock for its first service, partial ECU remap, Power Commander setup and Cordona PQ8 quickshifter fit! B-Kings also remap a treat, and if you thought it was fast before… The naked GSXS1000 is far from perfect stock, and a remap really helps the power delivery.
Yamaha’s new R1M is a complicated beast – but there’s a lot we can do to it via an ECU remap; including fixing the power delivery! Likewise the MT-10 responds well. It’s the same in some areas, different in others, but it’s nature is transformed after we’ve done our bit…
New for late 2014 is the software to remap 2006-11 R6 and 2007-8 and 2012-14 R1 Yamahas… finally!
- A striking beast is the Kawasaki Z1000 – this one was running lean with an Akra’ can. Nothing an ECU remap couldn’t sort out.
If you see your bike here, and have question, drop us a line. And if you don’t get in touch anyway – it may well be on its way! The queue of KTMs – Adventures, SMTs and RC8Rs – has never really decreased as they all feature a lovely engine hamstrung by emissions equipment.
Oh, and if you have a bike with carbs that needs setting up, no worries. We still do plenty of ’em!

SUZUKI
In 2013 we gained the ability to remap Suzuki ECUs – especially B-Kings and Hayabusas – and switch off all the speed restrictions and limiters without affecting things like the gear position indicator.
We can also switch off the lambda sensors, secondary air injection and exhaust flap valves – all done and dealt with, and then we can map the fuelling and ignition tables. There can also be large restrictions in the secondary butterfly valves at certain rpm; put it another way we can take a completely stock B-King (with a can) from 160bhp to 180bhp, with torque that’ll rip your arms off just by taking out the restrictions and remapping the ECU…
We can ECU remap the GSX-R600, GSX-R750 and GSX-R1000, 2002-7 GSX1400, 2005-08 SV1000S, Gladius and the GSXS1000. We also now have the ability to remap the 2017 GSX-R1000L7 ECU.
TRIUMPH
All models up to 2013 – removing emissions interference makes a big difference to all engines, twins or triples…
YAMAHA
R1 model years 2007-2008 and 2012-2014, R6 2006-2011. We can now ECU remap the MT-09 and MT-09 Tracer – the early models definitely need smoother on/off throttle control. The R1M and MT-10 are also bikes we can do a lot for…
