The owner of this KTM Adventure R travelled all the way from Bristol for his ECU remap. We rode his bike before we looked at the mapping and to be honest it wasn’t too bad… the newer the model is, the better they are, it seems.

We fuelled it correctly (but that doesn’t sort out any snatchiness) and switched off the emissions equipment and then focussed on the secondary butterflies and ignition maps – the two crucial areas.

The other thing people underestimate is mileage; they do get better with time. So a remap with low miles is almost a waste of time – we’re doing bikes with 15/20,ooo miles on the clock and they turn out just beautiful. This one left us a better bike than it came in as, so job done.

Not the worst one we've ever had to remap, and adding miles does help...
