This 2001 MV Agusta 750 F4 arrived with an old serial-port Power Commander PC III to set up. We worked on these years ago but the problem now is map compatibility to make changes.

So we had to get Dynojet UK to supply us with a ‘zero’ map to load in and away we went. The big issue with these engines is that the ECU isn’t powerful enough to run it properly; there’s simply too much information and not enough computing power.

The fuelling is all over the place as a result, and to get through emissions they just cranked down a potentiometer ‘trimmer’ in the ECU and kicked it out the door… and the dealers didn’t even know it was there.

This bike had a story though; it is now owned by a lad who took it over from his father after he passed away a few years ago. He’s looking after it well and thought he better get the mapping sorted so it’d run as good as it could, and brought it to us.

Even when new a 600 would dish out a spanking to a 750 MV... a mapped PC III helps a bit!
