With Akra’ pipes fitted this R1 was popping and banging a lot on the overrun, so the owner brought it to us for an ECU remap to sort that and smooth out the power delivery – he’d noticed that the bottom end didn’t feel like it had before.
We plugged into the ECU and made changes to the manifold air pressure tables and throttle position tables, also in the ignition because these engines tend to ‘hunt’ a lot, and can oscillate at idle. It’s not a 100% cure, but goes a long way to making them more stable.
All in all, a very straightforward remap with satisfying results.
