The owner of this GSX-R wanted a Dyno run because he felt his bike just wasn’t quite right after fitting an Akrapovic end-can. So he booked it in, and brought it in. He was unsure about his options but thought he wanted a Power Commander.

We had a chat, and after a short time he realised that an ECU remap would be the way forward as he was looking for more mid-range grunt (which this particular model GSX-R lacked anyway). He gave us three hours to get it done as he had to get going…

As he’d just a can onboard – and with  time ticking by – we didn’t go the whole hog with everything like we can with an ECU remap but we livened the engine by opening up the secondary butterflies earlier. We also retained his map switch for future use (baffle in/out option etc) and didn’t mess up his gear indicator when we took out the speed restrictions. We went through the fuelling and by 5.15pm it was done; 173bhp at the back wheel, and a healthy torque curve.

Time was tight on this GSX-R but we got the ECU remapped and the engine running happily on its Yoshi can...
