We love the Suzuki GSX-R1000 K5-K8 engine. It’s tough, reliable and makes a shedload of useable power, and we can do a lot with it through an ECU remap  to suit exhaust/intake setups and level of tune.

Once we’ve downloaded the original map we can switch off any speed limiters, and deal with any ignition restrictions in first, second and third gear. We can also amalgamate the cylinder maps, which takes away a lot of the ‘hunting’ you get stock making a smoother motor.

Adjusting the ignition table and secondary butterflies is also possible, and fuelling obviously. We can also offset the balance between the top and bottom injectors, which for a race bike is ideal. We can also add a ‘wet’ map to suit tricky conditions.

OK, there are newer, flasher litre bikes out there but the good ol' GSX-R1000 is still a proper tool. Especially after an ECU remap...

And owner Simon recently had his K8 remapped (that’s not his bike above, but one like it) and was kind enough to drop us an email after the work with his thoughts. Cheers mate!

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with the remap you did on my GSXR1000 K8 last week.

It’s got a really smooth power delivery now and the midrange is awesome. Looking forward to the better weather more than ever now!

Thanks again. Simon
