Kawasaki ZZ-R1400 Power Commander PC V and 02 Eliminator set-up

A Kawasaki ZZ-R1400 fitted with a Power Commander PC V, owned by an American customer who resides at the local airbase; we’ve actually had the bike in twice but didn’t charge him the first time because we weren’t happy with the result.

We had to get the bike back simply because it wasn’t up to scratch – when we rode it after the first Dyno set-up session it was very on/off at the bottom, around 3,000rpm. So, we removed the secondary butterflies (the ones upstream of the main butterfly valves) and fitted the updated 02 Eliminator. After mapping on the Dyno we rode it again, and it felt good, but still not quite right. With the accelerator pump function we then addressed some of the fuelling issues and instantly the bike felt better.

In a case like this perseverance definitely pays off; compared to stock now the engine’s stronger and feels much crisper, with great power delivery.

Not right the first time, sorted the second – this Kwak's got some motor!
