This new ZZR1400 came with Akrapovic cans fitted as standard – a nice little bonus for anybody buying one! They weren’t the fully open cans and after we’d gone through the remap the bike made 195 honest-to-goodness rear wheel horsepower on our Dyno. Yowzahs!
The owner brought it in complaining about the on/off throttle-opening/closing running, and ‘hunting’ when bumbling through traffic or at slow speed, all of which detracts from the ride quality in ‘normal’ use, not full-on performance mode. The ECU remap cures all of this (mainly) emissions-led interference and also removes the restrictions – speed limiter, ignition and secondary butterflies.
On this particular model we also set the traction control setting to remain wherever the rider leaves it, so it doesn’t revert to the default mode on each start up. We can also provide two switchable maps; a baffle in or baffle out option.
