2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R racebike head tune and Power Commander PC V Dyno set-up

Bought as a fully prepared racebike this 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R spent a week or so in our workshop; the customer who owns and races it is a previous customer of ours, and felt it just wasn’t quite right – or performing as it should do – so asked us to have a good look at it.

We found a few issues with it, which we put right, and while we had it we whipped the head off to put the race-kit head gasket in. There’s a ton of scope for development in the head, but we simply tidied it up and put it back together. We then dialed the cams in, stuck the bike on the Dyno and set-up the Power Commander PC V making various changes to the fuelling as these Kwaks do run very lean when fitted with an open pipe.

The net result? It came in making 182bhp at the rear wheel, and left making 193bhp. The customer’s raced it since and is over the moon, declaring it a completely different bike. That’s what we like!
