The owner of this ZX-10R came in after getting unlucky with the firm that fitted and setup a Bazzaz unit on his bike. It wasn’t running sweetly and we’d been recommended to him so we had a chat; really, we would have preferred to remap his ECU but he wasn’t in that position and just wanted his unit sorting. He planned in the medium term to sell his Bazzaz to put toward the cost of an ECU remap…
So we got to work and with the bike on the Dyno setup the Bazzaz to good effect – 191.8bhp at the rear wheel to be precise! With a pipe on these Kawasakis tend to run out of fuel at the top end in all throttle positions; bottom end is ok because they’re a bit rich as standard.
But you wouldn’t want to ride one for any length of time without sorting the fuelling because at 8/9000rpm – on a part throttle – minus the lambda and catalyser at work the engine’s running far too lean. Damage will ensue, in time.
