Race-spec 180bhp Ducati 1098S

By 2nd February 2011Ducati, Race Bikes

This Ducati is Tom Warner’s club race bike, and it’s had a major revamp at BSD in the off-season. It started life as a standard 1098S; we bought in an ex-Scott Smart 1198 engine from MotoRapido plus a set of 1198R crankcases (as they’re stronger) and rebuilt the two together to create one very robust motor. The internals have been lightened and balanced, Pistal Racing pistons replaced the stock items and the cams dialled in. It’s running ‘short’ bellmouths, which tidy up the top end power, a 70mm full Termignoni system plus Nemesis ECU and is putting out 180bhp at the rear wheel with a beautiful torque curve. Taking some ignition out has made the power delivery very easy to deal with and there’s both a ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ map programmed into the Nemesis. Naturally, we’re very pleased with the end result…

It was a stock Ducati 1098S; now it's 1198R-spec with 180bhp...
