MCN bought their longterm Ducati Diavel, newly fitted with a full Termi’ system and Ducati re-flashed ECU for Dyno testing recently; in all fairness nobody was too impressed, as the engine showed only a marginal gain over stock – it seems the generic Ducati map is very average to say the least. It has to be, as it needs to work across many individual engines, but ECU mapping tailored to suit an engine’s particular set up and needs really does provide noticeable improvements, both in terms of power and power delivery.
As it stands we can’t yet give the ECU a full custom map, which it really deserves to make best use of the pipe and deal with all the emissions gubbins and, especially, the lambda. Watch this space, as development for this model is ongoing, so hopefully within a couple of months we’ll remap this Diavel’s ECU and see what it can really do!
