The owner of this Beemer had fitted a full Arrow system and binned the lambda, so wanted his fuelling dialling in with a Power Commander PC V. We mapped for each gear individually and the later unit is ready to hook up to the gear position sensor; the earlier ones didn’t and we used to have to put it in ourselves.

The full  system is designed for wide open race use however, and didn’t help the idle and just-off-idle running. The standard exhaust has a balance pipe between the headers with a stepper motor and valve and without it pick up was a touch snatchy from tickover (remember track bikes generally ‘tick’ over at 3/4,000rpm…). This is a short stroke motor with big pistons, so it’s to be expected without the standard pipe’s smoothing effect.

Still, it made just shy of 190bhp. Not bad for a stocker!

Short stroke, big pistons and big power with a full Arrow system and PC V.
