The owner of this R1200S is a friend of a friend of ours and brought his bike in despite being a bit sceptical about ECU remapping. He’d had a previous experience (not with us) that had given some improvement but removing the catalyser from the exhaust left the bike running poorly.

We went into the ECU and had a look at the mapping with our sensible heads on. It was hugely lean in the bottom end – just as you pick up the throttle – so the main job was to give it the fuel it needed in that area. And bosh; the rough running and rubbish response was history.

We’re slowly expanding our experience with BMWs – twin and fours – when it comes to thorough ECU remapping. We’ll let you know what we learn as we go!

The lack of cat' left this Beemer lean off the bottom – sorted via the ECU.
