The ZX-10R has become a popular bike for an ECU remap this year; mainly because there have been so many issues with the Power Commander because of the lambda sensor. An 02 Eliminator has to be fitted but in truth the PC V itself has been glitchy in some cases causing misfires – we’ve never [...]
We’ve done a few of these conversions now (and sent a load out to Australia…) and they’re a good news story as Power Commander don’t make a PC V for these lovely bikes. The owner of this XJR came in on the off chance we might be able to help him as he’d had a [...]
In the last few weeks, we have received numerous emails from riders wanting to get their bikes ready for racing or track days next season. Various requests from engine refreshes to uprating road bikes, and of course the all important thing—- the COST! Any sort of racing does not come cheap and for sure you will need [...]
There are lessons to be learnt here… The lad with this R6 had a friend of a friend who looked at it and decided it needed some tweaking to the alarm. He took a load of wires out, shorted a few and in the process cooked the ECU. Oh dear. And the key and key [...]
The owner of this Tiger 800 came to see Gill in the office and knew what he wanted – an Arrow exhaust can fitted and then an ECU remap to suit. He loved his bike, and didn’t want to buy a 1050 because it’d be too big, but wanted a bit more bottom and mid-range [...]
The owner of this Trumpet brought it to us because he felt his bike wasn’t making anything like the power it should for such a big capacity. Triumph do run these bikes as lean as they dare and the emissions equipment doesn’t help either – so the first job for us was to switch off [...]
Because of the nature of the way we work here when it came to remapping Ducati’s Diavel for the first time we needed a bike here for a week or so. We had one dropped off from a customer and were then able to spend some time on it. Now the problems that owners have [...]
If we’re honest we had a few teething problems when we started remapping Kawasaki’s ZX-10R – but we’ve got it all sorted now and have turned out quite a few. And do you know what? This is a great bike to remap and it responds well. Firstly, we can switch off the dreaded lambda – [...]
These Street Triples respond well to an ECU remap and we like doing ‘em. The owner of this one had put a link pipe and end-cans on it; we de-restricted it in the first 3 gears and sorted the emissions equipment and lambda out. The fuelling was horrendous, so needed some big adjustments to give [...]
We see the same problem time and time again coming through the workshop, especially in Spring when people get their bikes out after a long winter… the fuel left in has turned to varnish in the carbs or injectors, clogging them completely. They need stripping and cleaning; typically, when stood one carb or injector will have [...]
2010 Triumph Sprint ECU Reprogram
The issues with this bike mainly concern power and power delivery off the bottom especially two-up. It’s been back to the dealer and had the latest factory tune, but the owner wants a little more. First job? Isolate the Lambda sensor and cap off the emissions unit. The bike was then put on the Dyno and we reprogrammed the stock ECU; fuelling at the bottom end has been richened up, taking away the ‘hunting’ snatchiness. Fuelling all the way through the rev range has been optimized and the ignition curve trimmed.
2009 Yamaha R1 Road to Race
To upgrade to race spec we’ve fitted an Öhlins rear shock and MCT have modded the front forks. The engine’s been out and we’ve adjusted the cam timing, ported and skimmed the cylinder head and we’re fitting a set of BSD Performance adjustable bellmouths. It’s also having a YEC race loom and ECU, plus quickshifter.
