Harley-Davidson XR1200 Power Commander setup to cure snatchy power delivery
Now we quite liked the look of this H-D XR1200 – very pretty. It was a later EURO 3 spec emissions model and had a rare old snatch in its power delivery, so our job was to map the Power Commander and dial it in on the Dyno.
We remapped each cylinder for fuel individually, and this went a long way to curing the problem. It’s still not perfect though, so we recommended that the owner take it back to his H-D dealer and get them to plug in (which we can’t do) and check things like the throttle position sensor and idle control, just to make sure there are no problems stored in the ECU, as it’s an older machine. In essence, a parameters reset just to start from a neutral base…
The dealer should have updated maps that can go in on a service, and you’d hope that Harley are aware of the issue with their XR.
