2013 Triumph Thunderbird Storm ECU remap and 12,000 mile service

Posted December 14th, 2015 in ECU Remap, Triumph.

The owner of this Thunderbird Storm was going to take his bike for its service at a Triumph dealer then bring it to us for an ECU remap – quite sensibly Gill pointed out he could get both things taken care of right here…

So we did the service first and went right through the bike. Fresh oil and a new filter first of course, then all the other stuff; strip out the brake calipers, de-glaze the pads, clean the pistons and change the fluid. We checked and serviced the headstock bearings, suspension linkage and swingarm plus the wheel bearings.

A lot of people would imagine that a 12,000 mile service is nothing special – but what we find it’s exactly the time that if anything is a little suspect, it’ll show up, and if left will cause big (expensive) problems down the road. Look after ‘em right early on and they’ll go on, if you get our drift.

The good thing about doing the service prior to the ECU remap is that we could sort the SAI out before we started (as we were already there) saving time and cash. After the all the work and the remap the bike felt mint – you could sense it was working as it should from front to back, and with the throttle response it deserved from new.
